Krannert Park Improvements Underway

Krannert Family Center became a part of Indy Parks and Recreation in 1972, offering leisure and exercise through various programs and activities. Improvements at Krannert Park are underway as part of Mayor Joe Hogsett’s $45 million Circle City Forward Initiative. Indy Parks Chief of Communications Ronetta Spalding says residents will appreciate the overhaul. “We are going to completely revamp the family center, which has been there for more than 50 years. It’s going to look and function completely new and be a great addition to that park.”
The project will revitalize Krannert Park’s 50-year-old building and grounds and include a new all-season swimming pool, an outdoor splash pad, water play features, a fitness room, an indoor track, and heating and cooling improvements. “We are taking two existing pools and transforming them into a larger, year-round pool,” Spalding said. “For the past several years, we’ve had the indoor pool and outdoor pool, and they had to be closed just due to maintenance issues and so we’re really excited to be able to roll out a pool that folks can enjoy year-round.” The park closed in May as work began. The project is scheduled for completion in the fall of 2023.
